Well I think this is good news for now.
Obviously he has an infection but she (Vet.) did not talk to me about reopenning the wound. The bacteria found in his wound, is one found in the mouth, therefore she believes he tried chewing his stitches at the time and got infected. So, when I got him, I was right in believing he had an infection from the redness.
Anyhow, I how have to drain the sore and give him 5 shots of Duplo LA once a week and Baytril Daily. We are fighting this to the core hoping he will be back on track within the month.
This little guy once on track will need an amazing home. He is such a strong, nice, very much of a little chinchilla and has gone through so much that, he will deserve the best of the best like all the chins deserve, but him just a notch higher. LOL
Got part of his medical file from the first vet, and he was put under 3 days in a row.
This being said, he is doing well and still going at it like nothing is happening.

Update: His leg looks absolutely marvelous compaired to when he came in and thought it was jsut swollen. The first week or so he as on baytril only and as you know things had barely improved. Until the next visite to the vet which we had taken the culture to find out it was a bacteria usually found in the mouth that was settled in his amputated leg. With the antibiotics (injections) specific to this bacteria I happy to say that his leg is looking wonderful... no more redness, no more liquids/puss coming out and the opening is closed. This after two shots of the anitiotic and baytril daily.. I am sooo amazed with the strenght of this boy and capacity of healing.
I am also very amazed that I was able to give an injection...heheh. It was a first for me.

Wonderful news! I am so glad that the vet cultured it so you found out what antibiotic would work best. I am glad you were able to do the injection. Once you do a few it becomes easier. What type of antibiotic was it? I have done the injectable Baytril many times myself but I know that one is not an easy one to give because it does not disperse under the skin well. I am so happy for you and him that he is doing much better!

He is amazing,,, tomorrow I will be giving him his last shot and will weigh him to see if he has taken a few grams.
Wednesday I believe I will try to take a picture of him... I say "TRY" because even if he is a tripod, he is faster than any of my four legged chins.... I mean FAST and FEARLESS!
