So this week I got a desperate email from someone that wanted to surrender 3 chinchillas. They were a pet, then surrendered to a guinea pig rescue where one baby broke a leg which was amputated at a vet office. The chins stayed at the vet office and then they were adopted to this guy and his partner. The guinea pig rescue closed apparently. Anyway, the man and his partner have 8 cats and bunnies and were not prepared for chinchillas and all their quirks. So they were only there for a couple of weeks. They have a FN, saucer and quite a few items. I begged Christiane for some help and for now the chins are staying with me and then off to Quebec they will go. Mind you, with 2 babies I might be able to temp someone here! Oh, the man who surrendered them also told me the vet wants to speak with me as he want more chin experience (there is a chance of free vet care for the rescues I'm told!). So I've added to the cage already. One baby loves the tube, the other the hammock and mom just likes to be on her own. I will put in another tube I think. The tripod So I think there are 2 hetero beige and 1 homo. Right? The baby in the tube is the tripod. She has a nubbin. They did come with a saucer too and mom runs on that non stop. I am tempted to remove it as I don't know how old the babies are. Not sure of their ages though. And none have a name......

Yap, two hetero beige and one homo beige. They do look pretty good, nice to see.
If anyone finds an add on for a ferret nation on Kijiji for dirt cheap, please let me know.
That is pretty cool for the vet to want to learn more about the chins. I like that.
For the wheel I would remove it and possible put it back in every other day or so. Is that possible, or is it to much work?

It will be a pain as I didn't put the wheels on the FN or the bottom shelf.
The guy who had them a few weeks said the "babies" are 1-2 years. I don't think so at all! They have that baby look to them and both are around the same size. I can see mom being around 1-2 years but I still think the babies are babies...under 6 months for sure!

Yup! All girls. Well I did a quick check last night and they all looked like girls. I'll double check today though.

I would keep the wheel out then... if they have the out time, I don't think they will miss it all that much. Or they will get use to it.

Mom: 642 grams Hetero baby: 422 grams Homo baby: 406 grams
( I don't think the babies are 1-2 years!! No way.)

What cuties. I would take the wheel out too and see if you can get the two young ones weights up a bit. I agree that letting them out they will not miss it. Very pretty girls. I can see why you want to keep them!

I will get that wheel out tonight. I've spent today rearranging their cage. They love fleece tubes. I put 2 in there since there are 3 chins. I will get everything set up and honestly, if I could fit them in my chin room I would keep them. BAD ME!!! ha ha

Lol... It is difficult isn't it... I have a hard time letting go the the rescues here. Including Madmoiselle Bailey
But seriously, I was wondering if you have extra tubes for sale without the fleece?
