Great news on the improvements of the younger ones. Yeah mom is probably lost a bit because there are no more bad treats.

Wonderful news! I am so glad that the vet cultured it so you found out what antibiotic would work best. I am glad you were able to do the injection. Once you do a few it becomes easier. What type of antibiotic was it? I have done the injectable Baytril many times myself but I know that one is not an easy one to give because it does not disperse under the skin well. I am so happy for you and him that he is doing much better!

Oh well, it was a good thought. I'd have to travel over to the mainland which is a 4 1/2 hour trip and not to mention the ferry fare...yikes. Then I could only fly her into Moncton.
If you lived in BC I can send out rescues for free on Pacific Coastal Airlines.

It used to be even more reasonable. The airlines keep raising their prices on live animal cargo. They have doubled the price of a flight in the last two years. I only use Westjet because of their good record and the great care they take with animals. To get a chinchilla to NB though I'd have to travel to Vancouver to fly a chinchilla since they only allow 1 stop over.

It costs about $130 for the flight and $40 for the airline approved carrier.

What cuties. I would take the wheel out too and see if you can get the two young ones weights up a bit. I agree that letting them out they will not miss it. Very pretty girls. I can see why you want to keep them!

Mats can go away as the fur grows out but it depends on how bad they are. They can just continue to mat up farther down.
